Mary Carey Has a New Plan

Mary Carey has a new plan: Run for the California Assembly as the representative from Beverly Hills, Westwood, West Hollywood and West L.A.
According to avn.com, porn star Mary Carey, who recently attended Presidential Dinner, intends to run for the California Assembly. She started out the day planning to run for governor of the state, Mark Kernes reports, but by the time her flight was about to leave at the end of the Free Speech Coalition’s annual lobbying day in the capitol, Mary Carey had a new plan: Run for the California Assembly.
“Their current assemblyman, [Paul] Koretz, is terming out,” she noted, referring to Koretz’s inability to run again for the Assembly due to term limits enacted several years ago. “It’s why I have to move to West Hollywood to do it, so I’m moving to West Hollywood. I want to move from my place anyway.”
“I think I have a really good chance of winning,” she added, “and I found out it pays $112,000 a year, so I can be an assemblyperson, do my six movies a year for Legend on weekends, fulfill my Legend contract and keep my Web site going. I could come here Mondays through Thursdays, and then on Fridays, I go home, and they pay for the plane ticket. So I’m thinking this is a great idea because I could go back Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays; I could shoot my six movies a year, and Cash [Markman] will probably write some great scripts.”

Letter to President Bush

Wake up, Mr. President, and get into the game. You seem to be letting the line between Church and State get blurred by some of the radical and hypocritical right wing Christians, and/or possibly even by your own personal subjective religious preferences. Worse, your Administration seems to be targeting normal all-American behaviors for “beheadings” type punitive actions, apparently to politically appease the voters of the noisy but misdirected radical religious right.
Well, Mr. President, you need to realize that normal Americans also vote, and many of them want government to stay out of their personal lives; and, they don’t want their President genuflecting to the vile and noisy religious right, especially when it seems aimed at their sex lives and their realization that sex between consenting adults is natural, normal and healthy! The “normal” Americans want their adult entertainment left alone, and they numerically outnumber the religious right, so it’s time for you to stop playing ball with the radicals and, instead of hitting foul balls, you need to understand the real playing field. Get into the ballgame, Mr. President!

I am a 66-year old veteran who has always voted independent of party affiliation, and I’ve even voted for you once when I felt that the other party’s nominee seemed like a weaker leader. I did not vote for you in the last election, though I felt like you did a good job of protecting America against further terrorism, and of your handling of the economy. Celebrate Free Speech Lobbying Days

9th annual Celebrate Free Speech Lobbying Days.
Representatives from the adult entertainment industry will visit California’s State Capital for the 9th year in a row this week, as part of Celebrate Free Speech Lobbying Days (CFSLD), a Free Speech Coalition-organized initiative that has become a model of mutually beneficial cooperation between government and industry.
This year, approximately 35 people, representing a diverse mix of industry and free speech perspectives, will attend the two-day training and political action event, which culminates Tuesday with a press conference on the steps of the State Capitol.
Among the luminaries in attendance will be veteran adult performer and long-time activist Nina Hartley, Joy King, corporate executive, and Jessica Drake, performer, both from Wicked Pictures, adult star and former gubernatorial candidate Mary Carey, now under contract with Legend, Gil Sperlein of Titan Media, Dave Cummings, retired Army Lt. Colonel and now an adult performer, Taliesin the Bard, veteran performer, and acclaimed journalist Mark Kernes of Adult Video News. Representing the adult nightclub portion of the industry are Larry Kaplan, Executive Director of the California chapter of the Association of Club Executives, and Marc Pakin of Imperial Showgirls.
“We are especially thrilled that Nancy Buermeyer will be attending CFSLD this year,” said FSC Executive Director Michelle L. Freridge. “We hope that she will be impressed with FSC’s accomplishments and advocacy tactics in Sacramento over the years, and that we will be able to emulate and build on those achievements in Washington D.C. as well as in statehouses throughout the nation.”
A press conference kicking off the all-day lobbying event will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m., on the West Steps of the Capitol Building in Sacramento. Industry representatives from all areas of the business will be in attendance to answer questions and provide interviews.
Academics Dr. Marty Klein, author and sex therapist, and Dr. Dave Hall, sex educator and researcher, will also be among the group of citizen lobbyists at the press conference. Also joining the group for the first time is Nancy Buermeyer of The Raben Group, FSC’s Washington, D.C.-based lobbyist.
Free Speech Coalition is the trade organization of the adult entertainment industry. Its mission is to safeguard the industry from oppressive governmental regulation and to promote good business practices within the industry.

The 22rd annual XRCO Awards Show was held on April 20, 2006 at the Century Club in Century City, CA.
22nd annual awards banquet presented by the XRCO - X Rated Critics Organization saw the Digital Playground/Adam & Eve co-production Pirates reign triumphant once again, as the title was crowned with the prestigious trifecta of Best Release, Best Epic and Best Director honors, AVN.com reports (see AVN Photo Album: XRCO Awards 2006) .
The X-Rated Critics Organization was founded in 1984 to give writers and editors from the adult entertainment industry a voice in selecting the yearly best in X-Rated movies.
The purpose was to award works of excellence, recognizing specifically the unique qualities of sexually explicit films.
Awards are given in some twenty-plus categories, from traditional “Best Movie”-style prizes, to awards that are unique to the XRCO, to those that honor the achievements of individual performers (for example, Unsung Siren, Unsung Swordsman). The XRCO’s Adult Movie Hall of Fame was the first such and it remains the keystone of the organization. Inductees must have been industry members for at least ten years, and they are chosen with a rigorous, discriminating selectivity equivalent to that of the professional sports Halls of Fame.

Penthouse to acquire Jill Kelly Productions, Inc. assets for $1.765 million.
Penthouse Magazine successfully bid to acquire the significant assets of Jill Kelly Productions, Inc. (JKP) at a California bankruptcy court auction on Monday, April 17, 2006. Competitors Playboy and New Frontier Media also participated.
The $1.765 million acquisition will further expand Penthouse’s multi-media platform, which includes: publishing, television, Internet and mobile services and will make Penthouse an even bigger player in the adult DVD arena.
“The JKP assets contain a treasure trove of over 400 high-quality adult feature films and compilations, including over 60 as-yet-unreleased titles,” says Penthouse CEO Marc H. Bell. “In this case, Jill Kelly’s devoted fan base will drive viewership and sales of adult products and services to the mutual benefit of Penthouse and its mobile licensees, Internet webmasters and cable and satellite television affiliates.”
“Platform wise, the acquisition will have a positive impact across the board,” says Penthouse President of Entertainment, Jim English, “but will provide the greatest boost to our Penthouse TV broadcast network. The JKP library of movies will be a welcome addition to our much anticipated adult line-up of original programs and movies.”
