The Internet Dating Craze

Mystery author lifts lid on online dating. Trying to find love in cyberspace?
Don’t click that mouse until you’ve read this new book about the internet dating craze!

Online dating is big news with Joan Rivers reportedly joining match.com and Declan Donnelly admitting he may have to look online for love, but for debut author Jo Elliott, it’s all very much old news. Not only has she ‘been there, done that, got the t-shirt’, she’s written about it too:
I’m Celibate - Get Me Out of Here! is the true story of one woman’s attempts to find true love via online dating.
So frank is this memoir, the true identity of Jo Elliott cannot be revealed. In a first of its kind publication in the UK, Jo (aka Jo-to-Go) tells it like it is - and, much like most of her dates, it isn’t pretty!
From guys whose idea of a nice to meet you gift is a bag of sex toys and porn videos, to vertically challenged trust-fund bad boys, serial womanisers and ageing lotharios - all presenting themselves in cyberspace as early 30s, affluent catches!
“I’m Celibate - Get Me Out of Here!” is an unputdownable real life romp through Jo’s dates, mates and love-life disasters, brought cringingly to life through the actual emails, dating profiles and accounts of her encounters.
Men and Women Differ in Approaches to Dating
- March 14th, 2006
- 4:49 pm
Find out how men and women approach differently in dating.

Sean Ziph is fed up. The 38-year-old Kansas City, Mo., resident has been divorced for almost four years, and he can’t seem to make sense of today’s singles scene.
“Honestly, how women view dating is God’s own private mystery, because I have no earthly idea,” Ziph said. “It seems to me no matter what I do, it’s always wrong.”
On the other side of the gender divide, things aren’t much better.
“I am a ‘Seinfeld’ episode, pretty much,” said Carrie Hickman, 30, of Kansas City, Kan. “I have the worst dating stories ever.”
In the 21st century, there are more ways for singles to meet than ever before - Internet sites, speed-dating programs, specialized dating services. Still, that can’t disguise the basic fact: Men and women are often worlds apart when it comes to dating.
“Women by nature are more security-minded,” said David Steele, founder of the Relationship Coaching Institute and author of the new book “Conscious Dating.” “They’re more aware of the consequences of getting involved and having sex. They take the whole thing more seriously, in general.
Men tend to have a particular style of dating. They want to have fun first. And then they want to get involved in a relationship.

From independent films to independent games - TLA Entertainment announces partnership with Republik Games to promote anticipated videogame Spend the Night.

Philadelphia-based TLA Entertainment Group announced that they will partner with independent game developer Republik Games to market and promote the hotly anticipated upcoming videogame Spend the Night.
TLA is well-established in the independent film and video distribution market and this is the company’s first foray into videogames.
“We are always looking ahead at new opportunities,” said TLA Partner, Richard Wolff, “TLA has been a long-time supporter of independent film and we see early indicators that stand-out independent games like Spend the Night will be making a serious impact on the market.”
While the exact terms of the deal have not been disclosed, Republik Games CEO Robert Coshland confirms that TLA will acquire an equity stake in Republik Games in exchange for its marketing and promotional muscle.
“The question of marketing and distribution always comes up when you are an independent studio,” said Coshland, “Partnering with TLA will give us strategic leverage in this regard. Also, TLA isn’t shy about handling controversial content and Spend the Night is definitely going to push the boundaries of video game interactions.”
Spend the Night has been the subject of much media speculation in recent months due to its promise of immersive game play that features virtual sex. In the game, players find compatible matches via a built-in network of other Spend the Night users, and then play cooperative “virtual dates”.

How to seduce your Valentine without taking off your clothes.

Back in the days of burlesque when the names Gypsy and Tempest could make any man’s blood boil, the women who twirled those tassels and wiggled as they took off their long white gloves had a saying: It wasn’t what they did or did not take off, it was how they did it. They had attitude.
Or, as they used to say in burlesque: “A woman’s greatest asset is a man’s imagination.”
Unfortunately, times have changed and the art of seduction has taken a nosedive. Nearly half (45 percent) of all married couples have sex 1-3 times a month. What happened?
The answer may be as close as the TV remote.
According to a new study by an Italian sexologist, couples who have a TV in their bedroom have sex half as often as those who don’t.
It’s time to turn off the TV and turn up the heat.

How to Meet the Opposite Sex in Public

New dating site solves old problem.
“Have you ever met a total stranger you really clicked with and the next thing you know, poof, like two ships passing in the night they were gone and out of your life forever?”
asked Jim Lofton, creator of PeekaBio.com.
“It may have happened in a store, restaurant, or on the metro. You started to talk when she borrowed your pen, and the next thing you know it was time to go. You both walked away wondering what might have been.”
Lofton created PeekaBio.com after noticing the regular columns in major newspapers headed, “You caught my eye, Missed Connections, and I saw you” where singles take a long shot. Most ads read: me - short blonde with green sweater; you - tall, dark, handsome in blue suit - we talked at Starbuck’s Tuesday - call me please.
PeekaBio.com members are given a simple solution to this familiar problem in the form of a “Peek” card containing their name, “handle” and no other personal information. This card is presented to someone they would like to know better. Recipients can then go to the site and view the member’s unedited, uncensored profile, and email them anonymously through the site if they’re interested.
“It’s like your own private dating service,” said Lofton.
